# Céline Herbette: The Perfumer Behind Andraste

## Céline Herbette's Career and Scent Style

Céline Herbette grew up in France with a keen sense of smell. As she faced hearing loss, scent became an even stronger part of how she sensed her surroundings. She later studied perfume making at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris.

Herbette joined CPL Aromas in the UK as a junior perfumer around 2020. She went on to become a perfumer, working with fellow scent makers and the teams that review each blend. Her work spans brands such as Boadicea the Victorious, The 7 Virtues, and Memoize London.

Her style pairs clear, bright openings with richer notes beneath. Flowers often sit beside woods, spice, or musk, giving each scent both lift and depth. She also brings a lighter feel to classic amber and chypre blends.

Three materials she favors help show her range. Osmanthus smells floral with an apricot twist, while cedarwood adds dry warmth. Muscenone, a type of musk, brings a soft, close-to-skin feel.

Nature shapes much of Herbette's work, and she puts care for the environment into her craft. Her years of horse riding keep her close to outdoor smells. She also enjoys cooking, where herbs and spices offer fresh ideas for scent.

For Herbette, perfume does more than smell good. She wears it near her neck and ears so others catch it when they greet her. That small act says much about her aim: to make scent part of daily life.

## Andraste and Céline Herbette's Other Perfumes

Herbette co-created [Andraste](/perfume/boadicea-the-victorious-andraste) with perfumer Kamila Lelakova for Boadicea the Victorious. This [floral](/style/floral) scent takes its cue from a garden full of herbs and flowers. Its many notes show how Herbette builds contrast without losing a clear theme.

[Bergamot](/note/bergamot) and [lemon](/note/lemon) give Andraste a bright start. Cool [eucalyptus](/note/eucalyptus) and [thyme](/note/thyme) meet saffron and smoky tea. The opening feels fresh, but hints at the darker notes to come.

At its heart, [jasmine](/note/jasmine), [honeysuckle](/note/honeysuckle), and [rose](/note/rose) bring the garden into bloom. [Orris](/note/orris) adds a soft, powdery touch. Woods, [leather](/note/leather), [vetiver](/note/vetiver), and incense then give the flowers a smoky finish.

Andraste leaves a moderate scent trail and has good staying power on skin. Its fresh start suits spring days, while the warm base also works for cool evenings. Try it across several wears to see which notes stand out on you.

Herbette's wider work shows a taste for varied ideas. She made Lotus Pear for The 7 Virtues and Alte for Memoize London. Her Boadicea scent Lannosea takes a different path, pairing fruit with coffee, woods, and leather.

She also explores new ways to capture scents through her work at CPL Aromas. Across these projects, Herbette keeps a steady focus on clear ideas and thoughtful blends. Her perfumes give curious wearers plenty to discover beyond a first spray.
